Latest Figma Make updates (May 2026)

These were some of the updates released between April 30th and May 11th for Figma Make:

- Custom skills

- Voice-to-text

- Question Cards

- Clear context

- New connectors like zapier

Claude Design released on April 17 and all of these things were baked in from the start. Claude Code had all of these things already back when we started using it fully in March. Initially I thought: well, it is only 2 weeks between Claude Design and Figma Make updates, that is nothing!

But seeing how spoiled we have become with functionalities available to us from the start, being late in this race has real consequences. I do not see us move from Claude Code and Claude Design to Figma Make anytime soon, regardless of new Figma updates.

As with other ecosystems, like Microsoft 365, iOS or Android, I am pretty much locked in to Claude by now. The cost and value to run other AI tools in parallel, is just not worth it.

So what about Figma? Where does it still fit in my workflow? Today I use it to document and refine my designs. The canvas still provides great benefits to do that.

I will try the updated Figma MCP, because pulling designs from my Claude prototype back to Figma is useful for the documentation step. The results in the past were bad (the Figma frames did not look as in the prototype), but I am hopeful that the latest version generates better results.

What do you think of the latest Figma releases?
